At Shér & Seo, we are committed to making a positive impact on people, the planet, and animals. Sustainability, ethics, transparency, and innovation are the guiding principles that drive our every decision. We believe in radical transparency and measure the impact of all our products to ensure we are continuously improving and offsetting our environmental footprint.  We are PETA Certified and established on International Women's Day 2023.

People and Ethics

We are inspired by the Global Goals, better known as the UN Sustainable Development Goals which seek to tackle the world’s most pressing problems and cover issues ranging from hunger and poverty to gender equality and climate action. We prioritise fair and safe working conditions for everyone involved in the creation of our products. All our accessory collections are handmade to reduce our climate impact. We maintain close relationships with our makers in China, ensuring that we only collaborate with Sedex audited factories that adhere to a code of conduct encompassing fair and living wages, respect and dignity for all workers, anti-discrimination policies, reasonable working hours, safety measures, ethical management, and additional region-specific benefits like medical insurance.  Adhering to our strict Code of Conduct, we ensure that our partner factories and suppliers align with the principles of the International Labour Organization's Four Fundamental Freedoms. We prioritise transparency by citing all certifications obtained from our manufacturer. Regular communication and engagement with our partners help us establish clear expectations and maintain mutual understanding.

Animal Welfare

We are staunch advocates for animal rights in the fashion industry, so we firmly believe doing it vegan is doing the bare minimum. The resolution dubbed ‘Animal Welfare - Environment - Sustainable Development Nexus' was adopted at the 5th Session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-5.2) calls for an end to the exploitation, endangerment, and abuse of animals. We firmly believe that no creature should suffer or die for fashion, as it is inextricably linked to the conservation of our environment and people's livelihoods. That's why all our products are crafted using cruelty-free materials. We are committed to not using any animal-derived products, and we strive to raise awareness about the plight of animals in the fashion industry.

Our Approach to Sustainability

We embrace a circular economy approach, encouraging the re-use of recycled materials and facilitating the end-of-life recycling of our products. We promote slow fashion, advocating for mindful consumption, and discouraging mass production. In line with the slow fashion movement, we produce two collections a year, so we are not adding to the mass waste that the fashion industry produces year after year. We believe that timeless designs embody the essence of sustainability, which is why we don't follow the imaginary seasons of the fashion calender which other legacy brands follow. We firmly believe that adhering to the fast fashion industry's seasonal trends cannot lead to true sustainability. We believe in re-using, upcycling, recycling, and regifting to minimise waste and extend the lifespan of our products. We encourage everyone to do at least 10% more for the planet and its inhabitants.

Our sustainable fashion brand uses a mix of recycled materials that is GRS certified. The Global Recycled Standard (GRS) is an international, voluntary standard that establishes requirements for third-party certification of recycled content, chain of custody, social and environmental practices, and chemical restrictions.

We strive to continuously innovate and incorporate new sustainable materials as they become available. While we don't claim to be perfect, our commitment to sustainability is genuine. As a new brand, we are utilising the best resources currently at our disposal to minimise our environmental impact. We aim to work with 100% bio-based materials like Mirum® as time affords.
